Review of: Damascus Sgian Dubh Raider Knife
This is my first edged weapon from MR, so I was very excited considering the quality that I was expecting. I misread the dimensions on this, so this turned out to be much larger than I thought it would be. No complaints on the size though.
1st, the dagger. It essentially looks as it does in the photo. Since this is handmade you know to expect minor differences and I'm not disappointed. It is amazingly light to hold and even though it appears to have been sharpened, the cutting edge is rather dull, not a big deal. Sharpening a knife is rather easy. It does have a razor sharp point and easily pierced many cardboard boxes I have. I haven't tried it on anything thicker yet as I don't want to risk damaging the tip. Based on how sturdy the knife feels, I have no doubt this would pierce clothing and flesh quite well if I was forced to use it for self-defense.
2nd, the sheath. Since this is my first experience with old-world craftsmanship when it comes to medieval styled weapons, I don't have much to compare it to. The knife sits loosely in the sheath and the strap is the only thing that will hold it in place if you decide to walk around with this on your belt. Otherwise I feel this would fall out very easily. The sheath's construction seems decent, but I'm unsure at this point how well I would rate the quality since I haven't had the time to use it on a day-to-day basis.
Overall as a combo I'm giving this five stars.

Review of: The English Cutlass
I purchased this as a Deal of the Day. As I've already purchased several items from Museum Replicas, I knew I couldn't go wrong with this cutlass.
It arrived quickly and very well packed and protected. MR is great at shipping their swords securely.
The finish of spectacular. It looks great and has a wonderful feel. Nicely balanced, light and easy to control. As others have suggested, wearing a glove might be a good idea as the handle is smooth and could shift in one's hand. A glove would offer a more stable grip. I ordered this sharpened and the edge is very sharp; nicely done. I keep this one by my bedside. Woe to the intruder who enters my chambers.

Review of: The English Cutlass
The quality of materials used to make this Cutlass are excellent along with the price. The blade is good steel. The length of the grip will only fit very small hands. The grip length needs to be increased by at least one inch to fit a medium to large hand. As is, the Cutlass is unusable. If this weapon is for display only, it gets a 5. If it were to be used as a true Cutlass, it gets a 1. The brass basket curves back and presses on the first finger and knuckle painfully due to the short grip. I own a large collection of swords purchased from MRL. This is a keeper for display only. The sheath fits the blade well but the brass tip on the sheath was so pointed and sharp I had to round the tip with a stone for safety reasons. My advice for MRL is to make sure your Quality Control Department gets more involved in sizing specifications.
