Sacred Relics Collection

There are some objects in history that transcend past, present and future. They bring to mind such a tremendous sense of connection to history that they allow us to more profoundly delve into our past, connect with it and ignite hope for future generations.

Such are the objects in this section. They have had no expense spared in their recreation. Each has been meticulously researched and it can take weeks to replicate just a single piece. Working from historian’s accounts, manuscripts and museum reference from the Topkapi Palace Museum in Istanbul, we are proud to bring you the true pinnacle of the metal smith’s art and their historic representation of the power and majesty each artifact embodies. These were symbols presented to the greatest prophets and kings the world has ever known and cannot be qualified by their usefulness today, but by the feelings they bring out in us.

These sacred objects honor beliefs, culture and customs of our honored and admired ancestors and we take solace in their memories. The first items in this ultra exclusive and entirely custom made series are the sacred sword of the Prophet Mohammad and the majestic sword of King David.

Although most of the sacred swords in the revered Topkapi Palace collection have been positively identified, many showed their age. The experts at the museum spent years restoring them to their full glory. We appreciate that hard work and dedication and have made our replicas to the same exacting standard as their painstaking restoration.

The sacred relic replicas in this section should not be regarded as mass-produced rudimentary, meaningless objects or even as modern antiques. One looks at these incredible objects, each associated with a certain exalted personality, as a masterpiece that transcends our every day lives.

We hope you enjoy your new found treasure.

Battle Axes

Battle Axes could be single or double edged. Used primarily as a cutting weapon, they were capable of dismembering the enemy in one fell swoop. Not only were they used for close contact fighting, they could also be hurled as a missile.

Maces

Maces were crucial in the fight against an armored knight. Cheap to make and simple to use, they were used as a close contact weapon both on foot and horseback. Capable of delivering deadly blows, these bludgeoning weapons were primarily used by foot soldiers.

Pole Arms, Spearheads & Butt Caps

Pole Arms and Spears were very versatile weapons. Used in siege warfare, they were comprised of a shaft with a blade or pointed tip. They were used to strike, swing, poke and thrust. Inexpensive to make, they required little training or skill to be used effectively.

War Hammers

These versatile close combat weapons were capable of inflicting significant injury to an armored knight. The spiked end could be used to grab the reins of the horse, while the hammer was ideal against plate armor.

Archery

The medieval Longbow was the weapon of choice for the English army. Medieval knights had little to no protection against the piercing arrows. Skilled bowmen could release 10-12 arrows per minute.

Review of: The Bannockburn Sword

I was not sure what to expect when I picked this up on the deal of the day, but I was pleasantly surprised. It is one of those swords that shows better in person. The blade has authority but the hilt is large enough for a second hand if needed. Everything is right and tight and the double fullers a executed beautifully.

Review of: Archer's Axe

This may be one of my favorite axes made by Windlass. It has a great feel and over all balance. The head is secure on the handle and the axe takes a great edge. Get one for sure!

These heads are very uniform in appearance and well crafted. The sockets are all the same across the set. They should work well for my needs. Thanks!

Review of: Round Brown Viking Shield

A requested gift from my wife and I could not be happier.  Solid construction and authenticity.

I am a history professor and I use it in my Military History class to let the students get a "feel" for what it was like to hold a shield in the shield wall (and of course it gives me an excuse to play with it!)

Review of: Late Scottish Broadsword

I saw a photo of the sword was copied from.  It was in the National Museum of Antiquities in Scotland and the sword was dated circa 1570.   The Windlass reproduction looks very much like it.  This is a HEAVY sword!  The hilt is so big I can get both of my long slender hands in it, (one on either side).  All of the pieces of the basket are very thick. The blade is well made and substantial.  The etchings on the blade are actually slightly cut into the blade, not just painted on.  I haven't cut anything yet but will once I sharpen it.  I am impressed!  If you get it you may want to check out Youtube's Matt Easton on Scholagladiatoria to learn exercises to strengthen your arm for a one handed sword.
