When the head and hands were protected by armor, the lower arm was one of the prime targets in swordplay. In many cases, vambraces were the only piece of armor worn, most often along with a mail shirt. This pair of steel lower arm guards will go with a large range of period outfits and weapons. They are nicely formed and lined with leather. The straps on the inner arm adjust so it will fit just about anyone. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts.

Even at the Deal price, they aren't worth it unless you want something for a costume. Battle worthy they really are not. My first encounter with these were 10 or 11 years ago and I thought they were good. As I learned more about armor, I realized that these would not work for most applications, at least nothing historical so I sold them and commissioned an armorer to make some just for me. For not much more than full price on these I had a set of custom bracers that were fitted to me. It's the only way to go if you seek to do armored combat.

Sharp edges on these things and a bit of rust but overall I like them. I'm starting to wonder if they inspect things before they ship.
