OVERVIEW

A Scottish tradition, the original Sgian Dubhs were frequently worn under the shirt close to the armpit. Now it is traditional for the Sgian Dubh to be worn in the stocking of the Highlander and the knife is frequently called a stocking dirk. The term Sgian Dubh itself actually means black-handled knife.
Our high carbon steel Sgian Dubh has a black wooden handle that is carved on one side and smooth on the other. Embossed nickel silver fittings feature a thistle motif. Comes with a sheath. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts and comes factory sharp.

Not bad
I had long looked for a relatively authentic to period sgian dubh that can be tactical without spending several hundred dollars. This is the closest that I have found. Although I ordered it sharpened, it really only comes with your standard semi sharp edge. If you want it truly sharp, you’re going to have to finish the job. All in all, it’s a really nice blade, but you may want to just order it  unsharpened and do it yourself if you require a sharp edge.

High Quality
Really nice addition to my Highland outfit.  I ordered mine sharpened for the sake of authenticity.

Well-Made; Less Expensive Than The Competition.
Well-made. The wood handle is so smooth on the back it looks like plastic, but the carving on the front is precise. The sheath fits well, but will be all but invisible as it will be in my piper's hose. Blade is good steel - I will sharpen it myself. No sense having a "black knife" with no edge! ERSJR

The blade was very well made, the sheath was not as great. Payed for it to be sharped, it was sharp but not as but as i would have liked.

Not made as well as i had hoped.  the fittings look plastic and the leather sheath is just a piece of plastic wraped in leather.  the blade is ok.

The metal is well made and the scabbard is sturdy. The handle on mine was chipped, revealing a white wood under the paint. Overall, a good blade!
