The Spangenhelm was a popular medieval European combat helmet design of the Early Middle Ages. The name is of German origin. Spangen refers to the metal strips that form the framework for the helmet and could be translated as braces, and -helm simply means helmet. By the 6th century it was the most common helmet design in Europe since it was an effective protection that was relatively easy to produce. Our helm is 18 gauge steel with strong rivets and a nasal guard. A soft black cloth adjustable liner is inside. Manufactured by Windlass Steelcrafts.

This helmet is the best one you have offered for this time period. I would have preferred a better lining and chin strap but overall a very well constructed offering by your company. Well worth the price.

Solid and well made helmet. Adjustable inner liner allows you to wear this helmet on you bare head or over a chainmail coif with an arming cap. Very happy to have this in my collection.

I have five Helmets from MRL... Like them all... But this Spangenhelm Is by far my favorite in terms of fit and finish... And the most "Useable"... No tweaking needed to have it function for me...
