I thought that this spear couldn’t beat the winged viking spearheaded that I bought earlier, however it is so much better at slicing and thrusting.

I'm giving this five stars! This is a very nice, very well-made (and very large) spear head. this is the third weapon I have from Windlass Steelcrafts, and I'm very happy with all of them. Also, shipping was very fast; I ordered it on a Thursday night and received it the following Monday morning.

Wanted to give it five stars
But just can’t. The blade has a serious warp in it, it’s not concentric, and I can’t even imagine how many hours of hitting this thing on a whetstone before it will have even the slightest edge to it. It’s cheap, so I wasn’t expecting much, but I do admit to being a bit disappointed after reading all the glowing reviews this thing has gotten.

This will be my fourth spear. I plan on pairing this with the Buttcap for Greek Spear to counterbalance this spearhead (out of stock here; I have to order it from another site). I'm going to mount this to an ash pole and expect that the end result will be a heavy battle spear.

It's HUGE. The length is intimidating - it's almost more like a small sword than a spearhead, but of course the socket makes it easy to mount up. I mounted mine to a pretty normal spear haft (about seven feet), and found that it had no trouble dispatching pumpkins after Halloween - either by cutting or stabbing - and was pretty well a joy to use. However, the thing is HEAVY - it's not a nimble lance point, so consider how you're planning to use your spear - chances are Museum Replicas has a spearhead which matches your requirements, but if this is the one for you then get it.

Make a spear. Sure, wonderful spear. But once you see this the gears will start turning. You can this into many different things if you want. Steampunk short sword. Short spear, put a butt cap on it and make a trench sword. Don't think on this one too much, the price is right and you will be happy you got it.

Fantastic period piece! Attached it to a broom handle and it is a very intimidating spear!

Nice heavy spear. Broader, longer, blade than average. Still a bit awkward for "hewing" on a full length shaft, but I see where the thinking was going with it. I would maybe try it on a shorter shaft if I really wanted to slash with it, although a naginata, glaive, or other polearm would do that job much better. I'll keep it as a heavy spear, it's very good in that role!

Excellent construction and finish. I mounted mine to a 6' hardwood pole, resulting in an overall length of just under 8 feet. When vertical, it barely fits inside a normal home interior! I wish I could post a photo of my finished spear because it looks great. Properly fitting the tip to a pole requires some work but I enjoyed it.
Because I couldn't find this info anywhere on the site: Yes, this fits the same 1-1/4" shaft as the other size hewing spear. The maximum interior diameter of the socket was about 1-1/8" with a depth of 5". There are two 1/8" holes on opposite sides of the socket for retaining screws/nails/whatever.

This spearhead is almost a short sword. I was able to put a wicked edge on it very easily. Will be mounting it up very soon. It will make a very impressive spear.

Mounted on a 5' shaft of hardwood, along with the tapered butt-cap.....absolutely incredible weapon. Or.....get two and mount them both on a short haft. Be the Viking equivalent of Darth Maul!!!

Very pleased. Pairing it with flat ended butt cap to make a spear approx' 7ft. A substantial blade! Look forward to working out with it.

The spear blade was perfect for what I had in mind and its construction was to the highest standards! Thank you for the finely crafted piece of history I now possess!
