Landsknecht Katzbalger Sword

#501825
The flamboyantly dressed German Landsknecht mercenary lived a harsh, brutal life and were famous for their giant, two-hand Flamberge sword. After using the Flamberge to break an enemy's row of front-line pikemen, a smaller, one-hand sword was employed for the ensuing close-quarters combat - the Katzbalger. Not as fancy as its slightly frivolous looking (but nonetheless deadly) big brother, the Katzbalger (roughly translates to "cat-gutter") was still highly styled and was designed to be an effective cut and thrust sword.

$369.95

Guinegate Sword

#501695
We replicated this sword years ago (decades ago, actually!) after photographing the original at an auction and being awed by its graceful design. We delightfully bring it back, but this time with a gorgeous new scabbard and belt that befit its lovely air of elegance. The high carbon steel blade employs the high center ridge of the original that enables cutting and thrusting with equal efficiency. The pommel and guard are beautifully finished brass, a subtle design counterpoint to the camel bone grip. The reddish-brown scabbard and belt are constructed of thick leather with brass fittings, for a sumptuous method of sword wear.
$389.95

The Christus Imperat Rapier

#501471
The pierced forward plates of this sword's hilt depict birds among foliage, the slender bars of the guard have an upward loop to catch an opponent’s blade and the heavy pommel allows for a balanced feel. The blade is etched on both sides of the ricasso CHRISTUS IMPERAT.
$349.95

Brandenburg Rapier

#501409
This 17th-century dueling rapier has a hand forged, steel blade with a flattened oval cross-section. A heavily carved horn grip mimics the twisted metal of the hilt and has a single steel accent wire that provides an excellent grip while dueling. Includes leather scabbard. Overall 44-1/4 inches.
$349.95

17th Century Italian Rapier

#501227
This blade of this rapier is crafted of 1080 high carbon steel. Features silver plated wire hand wound grip and wide fuller that strengthens the blade. Overall length of 46 inches.
$324.95

Swept Hilt Rapier

#500094
This rapier sword is hand-forged and has a high carbon steel blade with a diamond cross section. All-steel guard and pommel are accented with a real bleached, polished bone grip. Overall 43-3/4 inches.
$299.95

Renaissance swords were characterized by a compound hilt, narrow blade, and strong cross section. Their build made these swords ideal for the “cut and thrust” style and they were typically used by foot soldiers in the military. While it may be that Renaissance swords were generally lighter than their medieval counterparts, some big weapons were around too. For instance, the monstrous two-handed sword (e.g., the German Zweihander and the English Slaughter Sword) was historically a Renaissance weapon. Another popular sword was the rapier which featured a long and narrow blade and a hilt with a heavy cross-guard. The rapier was not used much in the military but gained a following among the civilians. They were later replaced by an even lighter weapon – the small-sword.

Museum Replicas offers an extensive line of authentic Renaissance swords that are made like the originals. Weapons in our selection are copied from museums and private collections around the world. They are durable and made with great detail by expert artisans. Further, we carry a range of Renaissance rapiers inspired by French, German and Italian styles of the period. For those seeking something different, we have basket hilt and bastard swords classy enough to make any sword aficionado drool. Check out the range and pick one for your sword collection or the next reenactment. It will make you proud.

Review of: Landsknecht Katzbalger Sword

This sword is awesome! It’s lightweight and sharp. The S-shaped guard is nice and every part of the sword appears to be historically accurate. A solid addition to any functional collection.

Review of: Battlecry Espada Ropera

Love this sword. Its blade isn’t as long as some others like the Musketeer rapier, making it easier to draw and wield.  The craftsmanship is superb. Definitely pricey but I think it’s worth the quality.

Review of: Guinegate Sword

I bought the 1-st edition of this sword years ago; it was unsharpened & had no scabbard; It was excellent; After a lot of use, I had to wind up filling the hollow bone grip with epoxy & that made it most satisfactory
The reissue is a superb sword that does   well enough at cut & excellently at thrust.  It is one of the best I’ve gotten from MR (as was the 1st)
It seems very much in line with period swords that I’ve examined & it will not disappoint

Review of: Guinegate Sword

This sword is truly a work of art. It is graceful in its appearance, as well in its handling. I own many swords of various styles, and by far this is the best I have held in my hand. At first, I was a little anxious about a single-handed sword being 3 pounds (as most of my other cutters are around 2 pounds)...but the moment I took it out of the box, it felt far less than 3 pounds. (I took it to my scale and it is 3lbs, 0.7oz.) The hilt fittings and nicely polished bright, the bone grip is smooth, and hilt construction is nice and tight. The blade is mirror polished and is well made. The belt and scabbard are well constructed - perfect compliments to this sword. There is not enough praise I can say about this sword. It is absolutely wonderful.

Review of: Guinegate Sword

Although it took a while for them to get the order shipped in to them (not really their fault) they didn't charge me until they were sure it was in good condition and shipped out. When it was shipped out, it arrived here extremely quick in less than a week. Not to mention the quality of the sword is pristine and very well made. I'm confident I will love this every time I look at it

Review of: Guinegate Sword

I remember eyeing the catalog pictures 30 years ago and then they stopped making it. I'm so glad it's back! It is stunningly beautiful. Everything fits tightly together (no rattling) and the profile on the blade is as beautiful as I hoped for. The sheath is quite stunning as well - especially the buckles and hardware. No skimping there. Yes the sword is not well balanced - the blade is heavy but it is solid and sharp. If I were to add one improvement it would be to add brass trim at the top of the sheath if for no other reason than to give that classic "klink" sound when the sword goes into the sheath. But the bare leather is cut to fit the cross guard perfectly. I am so glad I have this sword after 30 years of waiting.

Review of: Guinegate Sword

I bought this sword from your first run..... It is absolutely beautiful. The prettiest sword of my entire collection.... I am now drooling over the new scabbard and hoping that you might offer the scabbard as a stand alone item to owners of the original run of this wonderful blade. Any chances....!?

Review of: Guinegate Sword

I bought this sword the first time MR created it.  I have been giving talks in schools for over 40 years about the "Dark Ages" and have used MR swords.  This sword has always been a great hit with my students, it has a great look, the feel is like an extension of the arm not a dead weight hanging out there.  The students love the look of the hilt and the ridge down the center for armor piercing.  When I pull out my book on the Wallace Collection and show them almost identical sword, they know it isn't some "Hollywood sword" but it is like the "real thing".  That is what I have expected from MR from the days of Hank R. to today.  I know who ever buys this sword will enjoy having in their collection as I do.

Review of: The Christus Imperat Rapier

Beautiful workmanship, nice balance, perfectly tempered. This blade is exactly what I'd hoped it would be. Some reviews I've read say the blade is too flimsy. I disagree. It's firm but flexible, exactly the way a working rapier should be. I highly recomend it. I may buy a second one.
