Review of: Spiculus Gladius with Genuine Bone Grip

This Spiculus gladius easily gets a 5star rating in my opinion.  The overall build is top quality.  The wooden and faux bone handle looks and feels great.. The Windlass blade is very sharp, light, and strong.  Definitely a battle ready piece.  The scabbard is probably one of the nicest ones I own relative to both quality and looks.  I am super happy with this purchase.  I’ve always wanted a gladius sword in my collection and this is probably my favorite already..

Review of: Spiculus Gladius with Genuine Bone Grip

True to Museum Replicas word, this Gladius is light weight and easy to handle as well as SHARP. I am not a fan of Nero, but this Gladius IS top notch and will hold up in battle. The Overview of this Gladius is accurate. Of course, my favorite, is the Roman Gladius, my first purchase.

Review of: Hanwei / Tinker Sharp Bastard Sword with Fuller

I guess I was just disappointed that the sword was not made be Museum Replicas the "China" label was disheartening.

I have made at least 2 purchases, maybe 3 from United Cutlery as well as Museum Replicas and always had faith in the quality. This time.......not so much. Loved the sword not the production label considering paying the price over 200.00 dollars.

Review of: Raptor Katana Moroha Zukuri

This is my second Hanwei sword and it is of quite high quality.

The good
-Extremely well balanced and light.
-Feels great in the hand.
-Tight ito and samegawa panels.
-Fits extremely well in the saya and does not rattle.
-All fittings are tight and do not rattle

The bad
-The tsuba on this sword has a spot where the blackened steel flaked off. I'm sure this is a casting flaw and probably does not represent every sword.

I have not cut with this blade as I currently do not have access to an appropriate amount of space to do so. Please bear that in mind.

If you need a more thorough review including cutting, look up Matthew Jensen on YouTube.

Museum Replicas shipping was fast and a pleasure to do business with.

Review of: Hanwei / Tinker Sharp Early Medieval Sword

Received this item today, so these are simply initial thoughts and impressions.

It looks pretty good. No defects noted yet. Sheath is black leather, not sure if genuine leather or not. Nice cap on the bottom with a flat tip for resting the sheathed sword on the ground. Draw is fairly easy, but with a nice snug fit with a fair amount of resistance. Sword does rattle a bit in the tip of the sheath.

Grip appears to be made of the same leather as the sheath. Pommel is very shiny. Smears and shows any amount off fingerprints or oil from the hand quite easily.

Now for the fun stuff. I haven't done much with it yet, but I did give a few practice swings.  Appears to be quite well balanced.  Balance point is approximately 5 inches above the crossguard. As to be expected from 5160 carbon steel, the blade is bendy. Like, very, very springy and bendy. The blade is sharp, but not super sharp. Blade gradually increases in sharpness as you proceed to the tip, all as expected.

All in all, I'm fairly pleased. So far, I feel I got exactly what was advertised and expected.
