Nice sword but the wood was a different color at the top of the faux handle than the bottom.  Other than that, impressive sword no doubt.

Not only des the Sword and Scabbard match the movie one exactly, but when MR sharpens the blade, they REALLY sharpen it!!!!! BE careful with it.   ILOVE this Spatha!!!!Buy it!!!!

So that is what that is
I found this sword at a Flea Market under a pile of other swords and I immediately noticed the Roman design and decoration.  I hadn't seen Gladiator since I was 7, so I didn't recognize it's actual worth.  I have use this to cut watermelon and a few other things.  The sword was stuck in the scabbard when I first bought it, it took a good couple minutes to pull it out, even when I had help from the vendor.  The blade is beautiful with a really well done polished finish.  The edge was pretty damn good as well, but mine had bits of small rusting on parts of the blade, though that is because it wasn't taken care of.  Mine now has a small chip on the point from when I dropped it, but it is almost impossible to notice.  Aside from that, the sword is in great shape and I only paid $32 for it.  The sword is extremely heavy for a one handed sword, but it sure is a beauty.  I wondered why such a well made sword was just sitting at a flea market, it is definitely worth the price.  However, it isn't all that functional due to its weight.  I recommend using it for decoration.
