Nicely made, nice price
This is an exceptionally well-made Type XVa sword for the price.  Nicely balanced, solid construction.    It doesn't have the crisp fit and finish of a $500 sword, but it's half the price.  I sharpened mine and it performs well for cutting practice on cardboard tubes and 2 liter bottles.

My only complaint is purely cosmetic: the cross-shaped detailing on the guard.  It would be nice if Windlass made a version without this embellishment.  It is accurate for the period, but could be offensive to some people's sensibilities.

Very nice.
Great "transitional" style blade. I can feel the slicey stabby goodness just waiting to be unleashed.

Great sword
I tried to order this from another distributor and it didn't come after 2weeks and when I looked into it the other company told me it was on the way keep waiting ,upon further looking the postal service informed me it was missing and they had no idea where it was . That's when a friend told me about museum replicas and I canceled my order thru the other place and ordered it from here ,not only was it to me in less then a week they also gave the option to sharpen ,which the other place did not and it came in pristine condition and is truly battle ready . I will admit it could've been sharper but it was still sharp and I have used it in various test as I have been collecting and making my own since I was 10 and I have been very happy and even impressed and will be shopping here from now on. Feel like I wasted thousands ever buying from the "other place" and they didn't care I was a loyal customer or about the quality which their products arrived . Museum replicas have high standards with there quality that everyone should have and have me as a customer for the long haul. Think next I will be ordering and review online the black war sword or maybe one of the battlecry series .watch for my review on it ,as I'm am sure it will also impress with it's quality and high standards. Thank you for caring about us the customers some others really don't .

Love it!
Missed my chance for it previously, but was thrilled to find it was back up. Got it in today, and was not disappointed. Fit and finish are clean and tight, blade’s beautiful and straight, and the accents at the throat and tip of the sheath look great. Absolutely a 5-star recommendation from me.

Very impressed good price too
Overall a really nice sword thats blade profile fits either a Oakeshott Type XVa or XVIIIa. I feel its more of a XVIIIa due to its less acutely tapering blade profile to the tip.  As for the sword itself the construction and fit and finish are a big improvement over the first issue of this sword from over a decade ago. The only complaint I have is the grip is a very bulky and not well shaped for a proper aligned grip. Of course easily remedied with a little DIY work but that also brings up my second issue. The grip is not wood core but some composite plastic. Not a huge deal as its strudy and shape able but still a odd suprise from a company that primarily used wood core grips.

Overall I would recommend this sword to a anyone looking for a very affordable light hand and a half sword.

Perfect for the price!!
I just received mine yesterday and I love it. For the price point, you really can't beat this thing. It feels good in the hand, the balance is fine, it cuts nicely, and it most definitely thrusts. I paid extra for the sharpening service, and whoever did it did a wonderful job. Both edges were ground evenly, without any burs or scratches on the blade proper. It cut paper right out of the box. Some people might want to sharpen it further -- I don't have the proper skills or tools to do that, but I'm satisfied with the way the edge came. The fittings are nice and tight. No wobbling or clinking. The tempering is great, it flexes and returns true. Both crosses on the hilt match up just fine. The scabbard is just a plain old scabbard, nothing to write home about. But what I love most about this thing is the polish -- it has a gorgeous shiny mirrored polish instead of a flat satin finish. Some people online complain that the handle is hard plastic instead of wood, but it doesn't bother me at all. Same with the leather wrapping on the grip -- you may want to customize that yourself, too. The pommel is threaded but it can be removed for disassembly, modifying, and cleaning. I'm glad I caught the tail end of the May sail. This sword was worth every penny.
