This item appears to be a very reasonable representation of the historical Roman weapon: As a weapon in and of itself, it is outstanding. I know that a certain two very serious and accomplished martial arts masters (the real thing, as in internationally recognized in the real world and now quasi-retired) are very impressed with the sharpened examples that I gave them; I am impressed with mine too. The Romans really had an impressive weapon in this sword and the replica reflects this. Joe Brown
