OVERVIEW

Circa 1350

The proliferation of plate armor across Medieval Europe was shadowed by the development of crushing weapons like this war hammer. Since swords were virtually useless against plate armor, mounted knights used short hammers, axes and maces to defeat an opponent's improved protection. This beautiful, impressive weapon is replicated from an example in the German National Museum in Nuremberg. Steel head is secured to the hardwood shaft with steel langets. Brass tacks provide a more secure grip. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts.

Makes a mess of junked cars!
Really nice hammer! I have been wanting one these for years. Very reasonably priced too.  Here are the pros and cons of this hammer.
Pros.
Weight is nice. Not too heavy and not too light
The flanged hammerhead "sticks". It usually doesn't slide if your blow is a little off square. I digs in!
The spike will punch into metal.
Enough length left on the handle for a lanyard hole.

Cons.
Handle was a little too square for my hand comfort but a little sand paper and stain fixed that..
I wish the spike was a little bit slimmer. It' doesn't penetrate as deep as I wanted unless I give it a "homerun" swing.

All in all a great weapon for the price and sturdy! A flagship weapon for MRL. They have had it for as long as I can remember. Twenty plus years. Take yours to the junkyard and have some FUN! Remember to wear eye protection!

P.S. I whish they would bring back the old dragon/gargoyle? hammer.

This thing is beautiful!
I have wanted this hammer for years! It came earlier than expected, super fast shipping. Packaging was excellent, it came in excellent condition, not a scratch on it. It is light weight, solid and well balanced for a powerful swing. The design of this war hammer is simple and elegant, no nonsense. Overall, a great purchase, a good weapon for collecting and defense, if needed. I will definitely be making more purchases from Museums Replicas Limited.

Robust hammer
I like the heft and construction.  It arrived with some surface rust, but it was easily removed.  Great price on sale.  It feels like you could really use it without worry.

Geology tool?
I took this outside to smash up some crystal geodes down by a creek near my place.  It worked out great!

This could take out a brick wall
This war hammer is a beast. Shockingly light, well designed and constructed. You can easily tell why these weapons were so popular for so long. Holding one in your hand it is obvious that you could bust through the wall of your house without much effort, let alone what would happen if you struck a human..... The construction and materials are historically accurate, the fit and finish is tight, and the basic (unfinished) wood and steel are just screaming for some customization projects. This is an excellent value and several of my friends have purchased one for home defense. You'll see why if you hold one.

The War Hammer!
Okay ~ I'll be totally blunt. I bought this war hammer as an extra little gift for my husband. We were really impressed with it. The craftsmanship and balance are fantastic. We have a lot of dogs and have a lot of big old beef joint bones laying around. The hubs decided to give the War Hammer a try. We went outside with a really solid chunk of bone (about the size a a grapefruit). He hit it with the war hammer...not even all that hard. The bone  shattered into shards!
So, our mighty war hammer has been moved to a special place in the house for potential protection, if necessary. All I can say is WOW! Everyone who's played around with it LOVES IT!

Very nice hammer. Shorter than some but very sturdy. If the handle is too rectangular, you can wrap a thick dowel with course sandpaper and sand the corners down to make a more oval shape.

Great little war hammer. My only aversion is to the grip portion of the handle, which is a bit wide and uncomfortable. However, I would take this into battle in an instant. The claw like hammer is perfect for maximizing impact pressure points and the spike is nicely crafted to pierce armor, skulls, or anything else you might decide to use it on.
