With its graceful, artistic lines, the rapier has always been a romantic symbol of the Renaissance. The reality is that the rapier is a very deadly hand-to-hand combat weapon, perfectly suited for the swift moves of the duelists of the day. Many hilt forms were tried early on like this three-ringed swept hilt. The bone grip has wire wrapping, making for a very secure grip. This is a light, fast and deadly sword with a classical design. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts. Includes scabbard. Note: Bone is a natural material and color may vary from off-white to tan.

Beautiful sword
Measures at about 46.5" in total length. 35" long sharpened blade, and 37.5" from tip of blade to the top of the hilt.

Balance and edge are very nice (tested it by cutting a water bottle in half, not a super clean cut but it did cut all the way through, and I wouldn't expect a rapier to be so sharp that it cut through cleanly anyway), and it's a gorgeous sword.

The blade is very straight. There were a few minor scuffs on the hilt when it arrived, but I was able to carefully sand them out by hand pretty quickly, and it looks great!

The handle is definitely yellower than in the picture, but it still looks very nice with the blade, more of a dark ivory color than white, but that's probably just natural variation and does not at all take away from the beauty of the blade.

Wedding present win!
Purchased this one as a wedding gift for a friend. The engraving was terrific as usual, the balance and craftsmanship felt wonderful to behold. He was thoroughly delighted with it upon opening, I love getting gifts for friends here! His wife also received a gift purchased from Museum Replicas, but that is another review to tell of!!!

I absolutely love the look of this sword. The handle is beautiful, and the three-ring hilt is artful. BUT, I ultimately ended up exchanging it for the swept-hilt rapier. I found the Deschaux to be a little too long for me (I'm only about 5'9") and it kept banging into things when I wore it. Also, I found it to be very heavy and hard to handle quickly. I think the weight and the balance and part of the problem, and it being the wrong size for me also contributed. The swept-hilt rapier feels much more natural in my hand. If you're a more compact person like me the swept-hilt is probably a better bet. If you're a big tall goon ;-) then this may be perfect for you. If it's still available when you read this, get the matching left hand dagger.

I am very impressed with my Deschaux Rapier! The workmanship is excellent and it looks and feels great. I only wish I was able to get it sharpened, but other than that, I am very pleased with it.

Got mine on deal of the day. Fast, and deadly. My handle wrap only has 3 swirls, while the product picture has 6. But it still looks stunning. Sheath only goes up to the top of the guard, not the whole way in...wished it did.

I have an older style of this rapier since the late 70's and it is still going strong. I have used it both on stage and in more "live steel" combat exibitions than I can remember and other than a few minor "teeth" it is as good as the day I bought it!
