The design of the Burgundy cross flag is based on the wooden cross where St. Andrew was crucified. The symbol was used by Spain, especially at sea, for many years. When King Charles the First ascended the throne, he adopted as his standard the Spanish Ensign, or "Cross of Burgundy", in honor of his father Philip, the Duke of Burgundy. This is the flag which led conquistadors from Florida to and across Mexico. Double sided, indoor/outdoor nylon. 3' x 5' with metal grommets.
