Battlecry by Windlass

The Battlecry line of historical swords, daggers and axes has been designed in conjunction with John Clements, whose knowledge of historical fencing and Medieval and Renaissance fighting methods is unsurpassed. Hand forged by Windlass Steelcrafts, the 1065 high carbon steel is tempered in computer controlled ovens to an RC in the low 50's. This ensures strength, resiliency and edge retention. Swords have extra wide full tangs and all weapons are sharpened.

Each model has been put through rigorous physical testing to exceed industry standards. These battle tested weapons have a stone washed, blackened finish. Each is individually inspected at every step of the manufacturing process, and only after passing inspection they receive the armorers stamp on the blade. A certificate is included with each, signed by the craftsman that worked on your blade. Also included is a matching sheath and, when applicable, frog.

Review of: Battlecry Acre Crusader Broadsword

I was looking for something that I would not feel bad if in the course of practicing I were to scratch it or ding it.    The Battlecry collection was made for this.  I have several MR's swords and knives, most all of them I use a wall hangers as they are too beautiful to risk damage, even if it is only cosmetic.  Not so with this.  It feels the same as my other one-hander but I won't feel bad if I scratch the blade or chip an edge.   Well done Museum Replicas.

Review of: Battlecry Acre Crusader Broadsword

I'm impressed with the look and feel of this finely created blade. It's my first from the series, but my fourth blade from Windlass. Shipped lightning fast, and was surprised at how well it was packaged. Even came in it's own box, inside the shipping box. Well coated in rust blocking (I don't want to call it grease) but it's something like it, which I cleaned off and used a lighter oil in its stead. I'm by no means a swordsman, I'm more fascinated by the history and various weapons of the period. I'll carry it at Faire and look at it on the wall otherwise. The scabbard is beautifully crafted and looks durable and well made.  As stated previously, it's not my first blade from Windlass, and it certainly won't be my last. Very pleased with my purchase, and between the sale, it being the deal of the day, plus points I had on my account, the price was literally a steal, I couldn't pass on it. If you decide to order this blade, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with its quality and overall looks and performance.

Review of: Battlecry Hattin Falchion

Being a falchion one would expected the sword to be very blade heavy.  This is not the case with this sword. It is very light, maneuverable, and surprisingly well-balanced.
I like how windlass chose to use a hexagon design for the handle. I find it very easy to get a secure and solid grip.
For the price range you can't find a better production Falchion.
If this sword happens to be the Deal of the Day. BUY IT!!! You will not regret it.

Review of: Battlecry Maldon Seax

I guess I shouldn't give it 5 stars before I have used it for anything, but I really like it.  I purchased the Maldon Seax because I have fallen in love with the simplicity of the wharncliffe blade design, which is what the modern incarnation of the seax is called.  The simple, straight blade could be sharpened by a child (in the days when children batoned the kindling and kept the hens).  This seax feels very nice.  There are no warps. The fit and finish have no obvious imperfections.  The balance point is a finger width above the hilt guard.  As Mr. Clements said in the video, it definitely has a sword hilt.  I'm going to use it in the kitchen and on the butcher block even if it is a little like a sword.

Review of: Battlecry Bosworth Longsword

This was a late (because it was backordered) Christmas present from my wife and I could not be more pleased!

Huge longsword, but wonderfully weighted so that it feels great in the hand (one or two).

I highly recommend it to anyone wanting a battle-ready longsword!

It is a killer and I bought the Crecy War Dagger to go with it.

Review of: Battlecry Maldon Viking Sword

I'd been looking at the Maldon Sword and matching Maldon Seax for quite some time before finally buying both to add to my collection. They arrived quickly and were well-packaged. Both are solidly constructed, well-balanced, and beautiful to look at. Both scabbards came with a nice leather frog, which was a pleasant surprise. Both blades are also very sharp and I can't wait to do some test cutting with them! Well worth the money!
