Overview


This Soldier’s Buckler is from Windlass Steelcrafts Battlecry collection. This small shield was useful in hand-to-hand combat during the Medieval and Renaissance periods. Its size made it poor protection against missile weapons like arrows and spears but useful in deflecting the blow of an opponent''s weapons, binding his arms or hindering his movements.

Designed specifically to be used and made from 1065 high carbon steel with a darkened, battle-hardened finish and tempering to a low 50s RC. This fist shield has gone through rigorous testing. The hands-on nature of the manufacturing by master smiths makes this line unique.

Includes custom packaging and certificate of authenticity signed by each smith that touched your shield through every step of the forging process.

This is a solidly constructed buckler.  The size and weight is perfect and the handle is comfortable.  This is a great buy.

A solid, usable buckler
Initially I was leery of buying this product due to the gap between the boss and the rest of the buckler, but my concerns were unfounded. I got two of these when they were on sale for the deal of the day and I have been more than pleased with them. They are well balanced and the grip fits comfortably in my hand. The grip runs across the back of the buckler, keeping a low profile and offering great control over the buckler. Overall it is solidly built, able to stand up to the rigors of sparring. This is my new favorite buckler and I look forward to getting more for my club!
