Medieval Mail Armor

One of the earliest uses of metal protection was chain mail armor.  Made up of tens of thousands of interlocking rings, it was woven by hand and formed into protective shirts, coifs and even leggings. Chain mail, or more properly "mail", dates back to antiquity; the name itself is derived from the Latin "macula" meaning "mesh of net." It is believed to have been invented by the Celts and adopted by the Romans after their warring with them. The use of mail continued until the presence of gunpowder increased in the 16th century.

Review of: The Accolade Sword of the Knights Templar

Up-date of review of 2016, the sword is still in excellent condition, ages very, very, well, assuming it is maintained as RECOMMENDED, as well the leather works that came with it. If you aren't sure about what to do, DON'T use any part of the sword to learn on. Even something as simple as cleaning/polishing, if done incorrectly,, can make "matters worse.". Seek "professional advice" about the care of ALL parts, if you have concerns. Be less concerned about your "EGO" by asking or admitting advice is needed. Over half a century I've learned that asking for help is far better than damaging your investment by not asking.

Review of: Battlecry Acre Crusader Broadsword

Very good for the price, comes sharp and polished, the finish is smooth and consistent. I can't imagine it would ever break with regular use. It is a bit blade heavy though, but that's to be expected with this style of sword.

Review of: Francesca Axe

This axe is a very nice offering from Windlass. It is light and very maneuverable. The finish on mine is quite nice, better than the picture here on the website. The price is very reasonable and I definitely recommend it.

Review of: Crusader Wooden Shield

My boyfriend LOVES his Templar Shield. Excellent quality and truly realistic. He dressed as a Knights Templar when we went to a medieval faire. He was stopped by numerous people requesting a picture with him. Would love to post a picture of him in his Templar outfit of which many items were purchased via Museum Replicas.

Review of: Gambeson

This is perfect for what I was looking for; a thinner gambeson to wear under my mail haubergeon for comfort rather than my much bulkier one for actual combat reenactment. Looks great all on its own as well, is comfortable to wear, and is excellently crafted. The M-size fits perfectly (6', 190, 42" chest, 34" waist
