OVERVIEW

The basket-hilted sword rose in popularity during the 16th century and it’s basic design is still used by a plethora of parade swords of armed forces throughout the world. This particular cut and thrust type of design truly began to take hold during the English Civil War and over the next century found many variations of regional styles, especially throughout Northern England and Scotland.

Our Battlecry version is taken from a design that could have seen action at the battle of Culloden in 1746. The blade is made of 1065 high carbon steel, which has had the darkened, battle-worn finish applied to it along with the hilt fittings. The intricate steel basket guard is adorned with circular and diamond-shaped cutouts and expertly executed grooving. The wooden grip has been covered in real ray skin and a decorative silver metal wire. Black wool lines the basket.

This famous one-handed sword comes sharp and includes a matching leather scabbard with belt stop and adjustable leather frog.

Outstanding Version of Traditional Blade!
Received this sword yesterday, and I couldn't be more pleased with it. The construction is outstanding, the balance and feel are perfect, and its more modern finish makes it ruthlessly effective and practical. I am very happy with this purchase, and the Battlecry line of products in general. I'm glad I talked myself into buying this, because I would've regretted missing out! For anyone that is looking for a practical Scottish basket-hilt that values functionality above everything, this is the blade for you!
