OVERVIEW

In 871 AD, the young Prince Alfred, later known as Alfred the Great, valiantly lead the army of King Ethelred of Wessex in a glorious victory against a large invading Danish army. This sword signifies the main weapon used in this now decisive battle. The armorers of Windlass Steelcrafts have forged this sword from high carbon steel. The full, extra-wide fuller makes the blade light and deadly. The crossguard has been lavishly decorated with raised knotwork and both it and the pommel are steel and have been darkened to a forge finish. Soft worn leather covers the wooden grip. A matching period leather scabbard with belt is included, which has a highly decorative metal shoe.

Can be sharpened for an additional fee. Can be personalized with 3 initials.

Great sword
Receive this sword as a gift. I specifically requested it and it came in and was better than I could possibly imagine.   Craftsmanship is beautiful and is definitely true to the 9th century.

The real deal
The sword is beautiful I can find no flaws whatsoever, straight and true. I wanted a real, true to period practical fighting sword that looks and feels like it could be swung in a hard fought protracted battle. This is it. The grip is big and comfortable, the sword seems well balanced and truly formidable. The scabboard is solid, well appointed and adds to the overall appeal of the sword. My only complaint is that I paid to have it engraved with my initials and it didn’t get done.

Great Sword
I just got this sword and I have to say, I was really surprised how great this sword felt in my hand. The grip was big enough for even my "ham hock" size hand! LOL i ordered it sharpened and I think I can shave with this thing, too. Great quality and awesome piece for the price! Thanks!
