Overview

This is the classic form of helmet most often associated with the image of a knight. During Henry the VIII''s wars in France (1522-1523), this form of helmet would have been in use on both sides. The term Close Helm refers to the fact that this type locks firmly around the head for complete protection, with a very narrow field of vision to expose the eyes as little as possible. The visor is pierced with key-holes on both sides for good air flow during combat. The lower bevor section is split into two overlapping pieces that are hinged at the sides and hook together at the chin while the visor locks down firmly over it.  Feather Plume available separately.

This excellent reproduction by the fine craftsmen of Windlass Steelcrafts is fully wearable.  Made from 18 gauge hammer hardened steel.

Great piece to add to any armor collection!  I do have one issue with mine but it is by choice, I have very long hair and the closure around my neck will pinch skin from the added girth, this is not the case with my short hair friends.  Another really nice thing about most MRL helms are they fully line them with suede leather... Truly appreciated!   This one grabs the most attention from guests over my house and everyone wants to try it on and have a picture taken.  It is truly amazing how many people want to encase their head in steel and are not claustrophobic about it.  The visor will also lock into the raised position when wearing or displaying the helmet when the over lapping edges of the visor and clam shell covering the jaw are parallel which is also a very nice feature.  Not all the edges are rolled on this helm but there are no sharp edges either and at this price point it has been executed very well.
