Basic Scabbard & Sheath Maintenance tips

The first thing to know is that a sheath is a protective case for your sword or knife that is primarily made of leather. A scabbard on the other hand has a wooden core that leather is typically stretched over.

For regular care you can wipe with a clean soft cloth. If the scabbard becomes wet, remove any pooled or excess water with a cloth and then allow the scabbard to dry naturally in the open air, but out of direct sunlight. It is not recommended to try and speed up the drying process with external heat sources as this can damage and warp the leather.

To keep the leather from drying out you can apply a small coat of leather condition as needed.

When cleaning the metal furniture use the same steps required for cleaning the blade.
