Steel Domed Shield

It's heavy, it's round, it's great. The handles aren't the most comfortable, but that's easily fixed with some softer leather, another softer fabric, or gloves. Got some heft to it, which I like, but I would not suggest trying to throw it.

I'm very happy with this purchase. It's my first shield and I think the size is really just right. It arrived oiled and rust-free and seems very solid, and not too heavy. I might paint the front, or dye the leather handles, but it's also very nice as-is so those details aren't strictly needed. Good price too!

Robust as represented & plenty enough of to carry about & take my beatings anywhere ('smaller' than what you, any larger Wall Shield was given to share with our neighbors on Line, for individual Melee this only had to guard our valuables where your Buckler was all right), basic round design could be generic to any era qualified only by advances in available materials, a handsome article as given to take for granted, or create my own simple device by apply some pieces of leather.

[Carrying Shield on bare arm one found the outside of my elbow touching the inside of the metal, suggesting the possibility of an unpleasant shock delivered through the impact of a blow near that point -- what of it, common sense in any age would only take for granted rolling in a bit of xtra padding anywhere this appeared to recommend itself.]

Then before I had to do anything else about it, I discovered how just wearing my 200856 Archers Leather Vambrace in Kit already warded off the contact obviating this concern or anything like, 5 Stars for both these Articles together & separately.

Wow--So worth the wait! This item was on back order and didn't make it in time for my son's birthday, but that's fine, because it was definitely worth waiting for. It is really high quality, really well-made, and solid through and through. I don't know if this shield is only meant for decoration or not, but I have every reason to believe that it would serve well on the battle front as well. At any rate, my thirteen-year-old son is beyond thrilled with his Steel Domed Shield, and his Dad now wants one of his own for Christmas.

The ONLY reason I'm not giving this the full five stars is because I would have preferred a wooden dowel to grip instead of a leather strap -- which is not a show-stopper for me.  Other than that, it is perfect and entirely functional (as well as handsome) and rather reasonably priced for what you will get out of it.

The shield is well built. The gauge of steel is good, I have not used a micrometer on it. The leather straps are sturdy. The only negative comment I have, would be I can see where the shield was polished on its front.

The actual shield is great, no complaints. The leather straps are old hard and not usable, I will have to replace. Museum replica triple charged, the extra charges eventually dropped off after I called and complained. The poor quality straps and the triple charge is why I can only give 3 out 5 stars.

Man this thing is sturdy! They said it's 18ga, but mine measures .0625~, which is closer to 16 gauge, so no complaints there! Fit and function are great, awesome!

This is the first shield I have ever owned, and I love it! It is made out of a good steel and is a great size for maneuver ability. Comes with decient heavy grade leather straps. I look forward to customizing this wonderful piece of equipment! Thanks for giving me a good start MRL!
