I got this to pair with the matching Musketeer rapier, and they do make quite an awesome pair. The blade length gives a lot of reach, and the hooks on the ricasso do function for catching blades in a bind. The guard gives a lot of hand protection, and the long quillons cover a lot of potential openings. The wire wrap on the grip is very well done. My only minor con is those hooks on the ricasso can snag the scabbard during re-sheathing if you don't line it up just right. Solid, sharp, well-balanced and functional.

Very happy,Ordered sharpening,well done. The wire wrap is perfect,beautiful polish on every part. The only part that looks modern are the 4 spot welds connecting the cross guard to the hand guard but they are polished out so you hardly notice I ordered the matching rapier cant wait till it comes.

A wonderful item, everything one would expect for a military main gauche. The decorative work and construction is rock solid. Love the scabbard too, love the blue!

This is a truly phenomenal main gauche. Sturdily constructed, it serves as the ultimate off-hand parrying, trapping, binding and smacking weapon. Everything about this main gauche, form the thick ricasso to the excellently tempered diamond cross section blade, to the extra large quillons, to the ridged patterns for trapping blades and especially the phenomenal knuckle guard with it's fantastic detailing is just a cut above what one would expect for such a low price. A must-have in any collection and a trusty sidearm that will quickly become a practicing swordsman's favorite.

The  gauche is well made. The wire rapping is an 1/8" short of the handle. The gauche is well balanced. The basket is solidly connected to the gauche. The hilt is wide, I am not an experienced sword fighter, so I am not sure of its purpose. The scabbard is well made although it is a deep blue color, not the traditional black. I ordered the gauche sharpened. The gauche's edge is even along the entire length of the gauche.

Once again, Museum Cutlery has exceeded my expectations! Sharp, stout, beautiful and deadly!

This is no mere wall hanger, this can be used and the balance, workmanship and quality of materials goes to show that Museum Replicas is doing things the right way!

Nicely made, with lots of reach & great hand protection & the engraving is lovely as any other I have seen. It handles nicely in my opinion & I am going to purchase the matching Rapier as soon as I can.

A little big for a secondary weapon to the rapier.. My wife uses it as a short sword with her ensemble.. Quality Craftsmanship!!! A++
