OVERVIEW

Circa 1100

The axe is almost as old of an implement as the club. Metal axe heads were among the first handiworks created during the Copper Age. With all this history, it is easy to see why a Medieval warrior would choose a good axe for battle. This one-handed axe, circa 1100, has a back spike to add to its effectiveness as a weapon of war. The steel head is pinned to a hickory shaft that is curved at the end. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts.

Got this awhile ago thought I should leave a review.

After about 1.5 years of axe blows on various things the shaft finally broke, understandable though. I used the Axe head and the viking spear head off this sight to make my own Halberd so this is a good axe.

The head will never break, the shaft most likely will eventually if used. Easily replaceable though from your local hardware store. Just need a chisel, a hammer and a replacement shaft.

I like it, but I will need to wrap the upper handle with stainless steel safetywire or something stronger. I hope it is strong enough for use; I don't want a wallhanger!
