OVERVIEW

The hand-forged blade of the M-1860 Light Cavalry Saber is British military spec steel that will flex over 20° and return to true. The leather handle is wire wrapped. The curving blade is superbly designed for penetration (thrust) and as a slashing weapon. Originally copied from an earlier French issue saber and manufactured in the North and in Europe for the lads in blue. Our excellent reproduction is hand-made and ready for use. A stout steel scabbard completes this legendary sword. It evokes the unflinching bravery of Antietam, Manassas, Gettysburg. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts and comes factory sharp.

Quality Replica
This is a solidly constructed replica that really impresses. There is no play whatsoever and the saber arrived very sharp (as ordered). Favorably comparable to the real deal (when compared side-by-side to an original) in terms of weight and balance. Definitely weighted toward large swinging movements.

Well made Saber
Well made Saber with no play between guard and handle. Sturdy forged blade but a bit heavy for a light cavalry saber. Balance  feels more forward than I prefer but easily adaptable after practicing a week. Shipping was incredibly prompt,  a week after ordering. Sharpening is another issue. Whomever is sharpening needs to learn how to round a drop point and not to blunt or chisel the tip. The piercing action is a functional part of a saber and should not be overlooked. Now I have to figure out how to reshape and sharpen by hand a blade I paid to have professionally sharpened. I see from previous reviews that sharpening has been an ongoing issue. With that being said, that is the reason for 4 out of 5 stars...I would recommend this saber to anyone as a battle ready weapon. Thank you.

The Real Deal
I had never bought a sword before, but I wanted one for my brother. I did quite a bit of research before deciding this site was my best bet for getting something not just for decoration. It came well-wrapped and oiled, and was completely satisfactory in every way! Now I want all of them! And I love that you can get points, because there are so many other things Museum Replicas offers that I love too!
