A perfect addition when you already own the sword of the same name. Very comfortable in the hand and very solid. My favorite seax in my collection. I attached it to the scabbard of my Maldon sword for display, even though the vikings wore it on their belt!

Whether you call it a short sword or long seax, this is a great secondary or close-quarter weapon, and pairs nearly perfectly with my Battlecry Maldon Viking Sword (obviously). The weight and balance is comfortable for thrusting and hacking, and the factory edge came wicked sharp. The dark finish isn't as well applied as with the sword, but a very minor mismatch.  There were immediate problems with the grip wrap coming loose in two spots I had to address. Personally, I dislike the included frog as non-period, but that's a personal preference. Minor things aside, a wonderful addition to my dark ages/Viking inventory.

Love the color, size and sturdiness of the Seax. Didn't know what to expect because this was my first order from museumreplicas.com. Am very happy with the company and my order.

I bought this as a companion to the Maldon sword and am very happy with it. It is well made and came sharp. The angle to the point i not the normal seax point. But i am sure some viking smiths would have done one like this to make a stronger more useful point, It came with a nine scabbard.

As a companion to the Battlecry Maldon viking era sword it is excellent. The fit and finish is great, if not perfect (The leather lacing on the grip was loose on a few spots for instance). On its own it is an excellent example of a seax, and it's a good length for use as a tool or a weapon. The only minor disappointment was the traditional frog-mounted scabbard. The problem being that seax, even sword length versions, were side mounted in distinctive leather sheaths that were attached to the front of the belt. Which would have actually been cheaper AND more historically accurate.

This sax is built solid. Looks good, feels good in the hand and cuts well when sharpened. My only suggestion is to sell it with a proper viking style sheath.

I guess I shouldn't give it 5 stars before I have used it for anything, but I really like it.  I purchased the Maldon Seax because I have fallen in love with the simplicity of the wharncliffe blade design, which is what the modern incarnation of the seax is called.  The simple, straight blade could be sharpened by a child (in the days when children batoned the kindling and kept the hens).  This seax feels very nice.  There are no warps. The fit and finish have no obvious imperfections.  The balance point is a finger width above the hilt guard.  As Mr. Clements said in the video, it definitely has a sword hilt.  I'm going to use it in the kitchen and on the butcher block even if it is a little like a sword.

I'd been looking at the Maldon Sword and matching Maldon Seax for quite some time before finally buying both to add to my collection. They arrived quickly and were well-packaged. Both are solidly constructed, well-balanced, and beautiful to look at. Both scabbards came with a nice leather frog, which was a pleasant surprise. Both blades are also very sharp and I can't wait to do some test cutting with them! Well worth the money!

It has a great feel to it. Love the handle and grip. Sheath is nice. Only gripe I have is that mine didn't come sharp enough to cut much of anything. But I can sharpen it so that's not a big enough issue to lower rating.

This is a beautiful blade. It is very well crafted and has a great leather sheath that firmly holds it.

It's light and fast in the hand. Not real sharp but good edge retention... has more of a useable edge. Love the patina, not some people's cup of tea true, but there are some historical sources for such look for the blade. The grip is Good, not a real tight weave, but it does feel good in the hand. Overall this is a 5 star value for the price. Now I need his big brother lol

I had my eye on this for a while and finally bought it. I must say it is the finest reproduction SEAX on the market without going to a custom knife maker or bladesmith. A very solid piece encased in a nice sheath. I'm glad I discovered this new line!
