Windlass' Suontaka sword is a gorgeous reproduction of this popular style and a fine addition to any Viking's collection of arms. The detail on the pommel and guard is intricate and well done. The copper grip band just a wee bit loose on the sword I received, but nothing you'd notice in use.

The blade is the top-notch and what one would expect from MR and Windlass. I love the shorter blade length, too. The balance (it's about 3/4" to an 1" off) isn't perfect, but quite comfortable. With only a few minutes practice it glides through basic forms with no problems. The shorter length makes it well suited for heavy work in closer quarters while still providing enough reach to be useful on the line from behind a shield.

Honestly, though, this is a sword you'll just want to wear around. The fairly plain scabbard draws attention to the lavishly appointed furniture. The Suontaka is the Freya of swords, beautiful and ready for war. Sexy!

This sword is every inch as beautiful as it is deadly. Pieces like this are why I remain so devoted to everything Windlass and MR produces

I don't own this sword and even though I've been to the MRL showroom many many times I've never even held this model! I am 100% sure I could tell you nothing about how it feels or handles. BIT I was bored and wanted to write something after seeing a promo for this sword on Facebook 😉
My YouTube channel isn't big enough for them to send me review samples so can't bet on that. I'm broke & already own 2 Viking era swords so probably women be buying one either...
But the employees at MRL are GREAT! Always a pleasure seeing them...but if they want me to not be snarky they need to start the clearance sale back up this May...it's been cancelled for 3 years now.😭

The furniture is highly detailed which is excellent. The blades fuller is offset, plastic guides in the scabbard, and the balance is off. Overall not bad just expecting more from museum than one step above Chinesium for the blade.

Pictures do not do this justice. The blade, hilt, handle, scabbard, everything about this is perfect. Light for a viking sword and simply beautiful. The copper finish on some parts really set it off. Get it. You will be glad you did.

The design of the suontaka viking sword is very popular and appreciated by collectors and impersonators of Viking characters. The Windlass Steelcrafts version is no exception. The materials are well chosen. The sword is solid and beautiful. Aside from the fact that it is extremely heavy and that the spacer ring on the handle was lousy (on my sword), I have no complaints. The sheath is simple but very beautiful. The scabbard is a re-use of the one that once accompanied the sword of Beowulf of Windlass. The Suontaka sword is a must have for all collectors. I give 4 out of 5 stars.

What can I say. I have quite a few Windlass swords, and this is among the finest. Simply beautiful in every aspect. The pictures do not do it justice. Very glad I made the purchase. Highly recommend.

This sword is stunning! The fit and finish is just amazing. The handling is just were it needs to be. I can only give it 4 stars unfortunately because of the scabbard. The notch in the scabbard does not line up with the point on the hilt so it will not fully seat. Other than that it is a great sword.

She's a real eye catcher and will look so good on my wall for now.  She's lighter than I imagined and really touched my Finnish spirit

Probably one of the best looking swords Windlass has produced.  Very striking. This is the sword my wife uses most often for Ren Faire.

It just looks so good! The copper on wood contrast is very eye catching. It's also got a great feel in the hand. May just be my new favorite Viking sword.
