OVERVIEW

Not only were wooden swords used by Gladiators for training, but if he survived the arena and lived long enough to retire, a symbolic wooden gladius, or rudius, was awarded as a token of discharge and freedom.
Our practice sword is made of solid steamed beechwood with a darker contrasting stain on the pommel and hilt. Fully seasoned, it can take the abuse of sparring, even edge-to-edge, although wood can break along the grain. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts.

Fantastic
This wooden Gladius tops all the others that I have seen. Windlass has done a fantastic job in workmanship...( No surprise there).

Wooden Training Rudis.
I used this Gladius or Rudis sword was gifted to a dear friend after 30 years of service with a Police Department. It was well received. I nailed engraved name plates on to the hand guard with his name and on the the other his dates of service.

Overall a well received piece. Thank you.

Great Rudius
Perfect for use as a decorative piece, practice sword, or safe sword to go with an outfit. Made with a sturdy wood and has a nice finish. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a sword for play, practice, or display with an outfit without having a real blade.

My second one! Great substitute if you don't want the steel Real McCoy version. Great ribbed grip and pommel. Nice feel when held in ones hand.

I have seen other gladius's, and the quality was apalling! The blades were crooked, the quality of the wood was terrible at best! these are the abolute best that I have seen. I will recodmend them to anyone thinking of buying any of these practice blades.
