Circa 1200-1600

The remains of this massive Scottish war sword are housed in London's renowned British Museum. The furniture is brass, as with many Highland weapons, to prevent rust in the chronically wet mountain climate. This type of sword would have been carried to the great battlefields where the Scots struggled against their most bitter enemy, the English. In the hands of a brawny highland warrior this would have been a devastating weapon. Hardwood grip accentuates a very attractive sword. High carbon steel fullered blade, ready for an edge. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts®. Includes scabbard. Can be sharpened for additional fee. Web Only.
  • Overall: 47-1⁄2"
  • Blade: 38-1⁄2" long, 1-7⁄8" wide, 3⁄16" thick
  • Wt: 6-1⁄2 lbs

This piece looks imposing as a display or bearing sword but is difficult to weild as built. The balance is poor (very blade heavy) and the carved grip feels awkward in the hand. I plan to reshape the grip and place a leather ricasso (for an alternative grip)on the blade below the hilt. All in all with a little work (customization) this is still a nice blade(I bought during a sale)for the price.

First problem blade I have received from MRL... out of the box I notice the brass extention of the hilt running down the forte is standing 1/4" off the blade either side(will need to drill and pin this with a brass rod then fill with devcon). The blade, sorry to say is 'whippy', one shake and it rattles between said extention of the hilt. One stroke and the pommel rotated in my hand causing the loose fitting wood grip to crack/split(will disassemble, glue wood, fill with devcon, center and hope for the best). I still gave it 3 stars for looks alone.

Much more imposing in person than in your pictures. It will take a strong man to wield this but the blade is not too heavy to be practical. It looks nice on the wall and carried on my back.

Absolutely huge, true two hander. The picture doesn't do the blade and the brass justice. Bought mine for much more, and couldn't be happier. It's a showpiece. Get it sharpened:)

This is a huge sword. Best looking (not the best balanced) blade on the planet. My centerpiece of my collection and the one that gets all the attention. Big or strong wielders will love this battle ready beast. Sword is perfect, scabbard average.
