OVERVIEW

This medieval Acre Crusader Broadsword from Windlass Steelcrafts Battlecry collection is a formidable weapon of proven worth. This classic knightly sword was ideal for sword and shield or sword and buckler combat, whether on foot or horseback. The Acre crusader sword is a stout and fearsome blade that takes advantage of its heft, width, center, and gravity to deliver deadly slashing cuts, and hacking blows and thrusts.

One can easily imagine how this weapon shredded both mail and leather armors across Europe and Asia-minor for centuries. With a wide cross-guard of over 8", it's no sword for the softhearted or weak-spirited. Its practical cruciform hilt with single-hand grip and disc pommel was to be the functional model for countless other sword styles to follow. To know why and how the Medieval warrior became so successful you could do no better than starting with this blade.

Includes a matching scabbard with belt stop, and certificate of authenticity signed by each smith that touched your blade through every step of the forging process.

Acre Broadsword Perfection!
I had waited several years and finally purchased this sword, and was ecstatic when it arrived and was just as exquisite as in the instruction video. Fit and finish were perfect. The sword came sharpened very well.  A fully FUNCTIONAL sword ready to go. Do not hesitate if you have been considering this item. In fact I cut myself on the professionally sharp edge. Yes you can defeat Pumpkins, or shipping cartons with ease. Looks great on your wall or if you plan on going to Mordor and need some reassurance. Well made that if taken care of you will be able to pass on to next generation. Awesome finish, peened pommel, perfect balance and flex. Buy and Enjoy!

Excellent blade and wire wrapped grip
As with all Battlecry series products, the fit and finish on this Crusades era sword are excellent. It is not a black epoxy coating like a lot of large knives have nowadays (Kabar/Becker) but instead a crystal-like blueing process. The blade is formidable, came sharp, and the wire wrap adds a nice touch. It may take a little getting used to if one isn't used to heavy single handed swords, but from what I know this is period specific. It packs a punch!

I really like this sword!
I was looking for something that I would not feel bad if in the course of practicing I were to scratch it or ding it.    The Battlecry collection was made for this.  I have several MR's swords and knives, most all of them I use a wall hangers as they are too beautiful to risk damage, even if it is only cosmetic.  Not so with this.  It feels the same as my other one-hander but I won't feel bad if I scratch the blade or chip an edge.   Well done Museum Replicas.

Battlecry Series Acre Crusader Broadsword
I'm impressed with the look and feel of this finely created blade. It's my first from the series, but my fourth blade from Windlass. Shipped lightning fast, and was surprised at how well it was packaged. Even came in it's own box, inside the shipping box. Well coated in rust blocking (I don't want to call it grease) but it's something like it, which I cleaned off and used a lighter oil in its stead. I'm by no means a swordsman, I'm more fascinated by the history and various weapons of the period. I'll carry it at Faire and look at it on the wall otherwise. The scabbard is beautifully crafted and looks durable and well made.  As stated previously, it's not my first blade from Windlass, and it certainly won't be my last. Very pleased with my purchase, and between the sale, it being the deal of the day, plus points I had on my account, the price was literally a steal, I couldn't pass on it. If you decide to order this blade, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with its quality and overall looks and performance.

Excellent Sword!
This sword is great!  Seemingly indestructible and very enjoyable to wield.  Last weekend I used it (to my neighbors amusement) to take down a small tree in the yard.  Not even a dent or chip on the edge.  My only complaint is that the pommel was slightly canted to one side.  This is in no way detrimental to the functionality though.  But for a $264 sword, I won't complain.

Wow
This sword is amazing.  Great quality and a solid piece that I know will be able to take a beating.  My only criticism is that it doesn't have a cross etched into the pommel, but I think I can do that myself.  Great piece!

Very solid
Very good for the price, comes sharp and polished, the finish is smooth and consistent. I can't imagine it would ever break with regular use. It is a bit blade heavy though, but that's to be expected with this style of sword.

Good buy
Lovely blade. Heavy, but decent balance and a tough edge with excellent flexibillity and a nice scabbard make it an awesome buy. Need to get more battlecry blades. This one is quite nice.

Battlecry Series
Ok, I received the Acre sword as a second choice to the Agincourt because the Agincourt sword is backordered and no telling when I could get it. Immediately out of the box and into my hands you can see it and feel it... "This is a real sword!" I said out loud to myself. Great price for a great sword in my opinion. I am awaiting another...

Disappointed to find that the weapon, though finely crafted is NOT crafted in the states but crafted in India.  Also, on my particular weapon, the guard was opening to seat it over the tang was a lot larger than it needed to be and I find that to be a sign of sloppy craftsmanship.  It is secured appropriately so that it doesn't move around but I can visualize it breaking free after use and falling down the length of the blade at some time or rattling back and forth on the tang.  For all the hype about "hands-on craftsmanship" going on with this series, I expected a lot more from it.  Nothing about this blade or craftsmanship stands out from any normal rating so I give them 3 stars.  If I had known more about this series going into my purchase I'm not sure I would have made the same investment.

This is my first sword from Windlass, but it seems to be a really nice good quality sword for a reasonable price.

I love this sword. This is my 3rd sword from the Battlecry series, and they never cease to impress. The second I unwrapped and cleaned it, I could easily see something like this chopping off limbs, heads, and any other appendages on long ago battlefields. It's a hefty blade, but straight out of the box it's razor sharp. My only quarrel is that it's a little stiff to pull out and put in the scabbard, but a little breaking in will fix that nicely, and it's no reason to take any stars away from what is an excellent sword. I'd have paid 3 times what I paid for this sword. It's already been used for chopping some milk jugs and old watermelons, and it performed admirably. Thank you again, Museum Replicas. You've delivered an amazing piece of steel once again.

Great sword. I wanted something that was shaped like a REAL sword, not all the fantasy toys that I tend to see. Was really happy to get this, traditional feel with a slightly modern black color effect gives it just enough attitude.
