OVERVIEW

Please view here.
From the exciting Night Angel Trilogy of books by author Brent Weeks comes the mysterious sword Retribution. It is, in fact, the disguised version of the supreme magical artifact lures, the Staff of Law. The blade is high carbon steel which has been blackened to a midnight finish to match the ornate pommel and guard. A rich, black leather wrapping gives the hand-and-a-half handle a sure grip. Finally, ancient runes adorn the blade on both sides, which translates to MERCY and JUSTICE. Scabbard with Belt available separately. Includes certificate of authenticity. The 1st 250 certificates are hand signed by Brent Weeks. (The certificates are not numbered.)

I loved these books and was really excited to hear that replicas were being made so I just had to get some.  Unfortunately, I'm rather disappointed in the build quality.  Where the blade meets the guard, there is a noticeably large gap.  On my first sword, this caused a "clang" when the sword was lifted or moved because the blade would hit the guard.  I contacted MRL and they replaced it for me.  The second sword has the same gap but does not have the "clang" when I handle the sword.  I've had the sword for 7 or 8 months now and already some of the leather straps on the grip are coming undone.  I can probably glue them back in place easily enough, but for a $300 replica I expect the build quality to be better than this.

On the plus side, the sword looks phenomenal!  The black blade with the rune etching is incredible.  The leather wrapped handle and the details on the guard and pommel all look great.  Every time I've showed this to someone I get a great "wow" response.  This would absolutely get 5-stars if the build quality was better.

Loved this book and had to have one. I was surprised they still had certificates to give away although I guess 250 is a lot of swords. Sword is too heavy to be historically accurate but given that Durzo had talent infused swings and this book is fiction makes it viable.
