Closeout, Was $235, Now Only $149! sold out! Many a bloody-handed pirate of the 17th century clambered over the side of a gold laden galleon armed with a cutlass such as this. Known by many names, "hanger", "cuttoe," and "short saber" by infantry or "cutlass" by sailors, this was an exceedingly popular short weapon. The steel basket protected the hand and could be used as an armored fist in the close confines of shipboard combat. High carbon steel blade made by Windlass Steelcrafts®. Steel pommel and leather-covered wood handle. Includes leather scabbard. Can be sharpened for an additional fee.
beautiful piece but balance is blade heavy, basket is hard to maintain from rust

Sorry to hear that both of you had some bad luck with this sword. Thank god know one was hurt!! Next time you may want to go with a blade better suited for stage combat such as one from Albion or Atrim, one of their blunted edge and thick tang trainers. Even a Paul Chen trainer would be a better choice if your funds are tight. I know this is not a forum but something had to be said. You get what you pay fore when it comes to swords. Windlass swords are a decent quality for the money but they are far from being high end performance "battle ready" swords. David Cellini, WMA student and A&A collector.

unfortunately I have had the displeasure of running across one of these blades, during a public demo there was a pinging noise and the blade snapped off of this sword and into the crowd. Luckily it didn't hurt anyone and the audience thought it was suppose to be a breakaway blade. It had only been used a few times during light stage shows. Sadly, I remember when Windless stood for quality but that has apparently gone to the wayside.

Windlass swords are good cutters and this blade is no exception. The previous mention of broken blades and rat tail tangs is most likely an error. Bud-K offers a near perfect looking, but chinsy copy of this sword and it goes for about $30.00. No comparison to windlass quality.

The group I belong to has several of these things laying around. They were bought because they look cool but that is as far as they go. Two of them have snapped off at the hilt shortly after getting them due to a poor welded rat tail. If you want a "shiney" then this is the sword for you, but if you want something for light stage combat... find another blade

I love this sword. It is beautifully made, light, strong, and well-balanced.
