The Italians were reportedly the first to form the school of fighting with a rapier and dagger and it is still called the “Florentine” style. Be that as it may, it was used by all European countries and thought to be the most difficult and fluid form of dueling. This is certainly a handsome rapier. The shells of the guards have been taken to the literal sense. The quillions are long for added protection and the entire hilt has been given a beautiful aged look. The blades are from well tempered high carbon steel. This well-balanced rapier includes the scabbard. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts®. Matching dagger available.

Very nice piece indeed, the rough hewn look on the furniture is nice though it will be hard to keep rust in check after I stripped everything off with B-12 Chemtool(will try some wax for now). The blade is very uniform in appearance and quite pleasing though it is a bright finish. POB is 1 inch from the shell guard(the tip of the chevron where the fuller is formed) and when gripped like and italian foil, it is very accurate and fast. The wire wrap grip does have some flat spots and the pommel is just off center, but nothing that will affect aesthetics. Well done!
