If you've ever read Bernard Cornwell's Saxon Series or Warlord Chronicles, this is a sword that would've been at home in either era. Make no mistake, this is a robust sword with a long, wide, and flat blade, slightly ovoid in cross section with a rudimentary point. This sword is a dedicated hack and slash style of sword- given the cutaway profile, this is not really suited for the thrust. The brass accents are surprisingly heavy and well done, the handle is not really suited for two hands (altho you could cram your off-hand onto it and the butt plate/pommel) - so this would be a sword for a bigger, stronger warrior. At 6' and a paltry 185lbs, this isn't a sword I'd feel comfortable using except against stationary targets- in a fight, if you could strike first blow, you'd win, hands down. This thing would crush bones and maim limbs, armored or not. When cutting, I suggest letting the weight do the work, otherwise you'll find that your shoulder and wrist will get worn out rather quickly.
