I received the Classical Medieval One Hand sword (herein "Arming Sword) as a gift and began using that for basic Physical Therapy and Exercise and found it to be excellent for building core muscles.
But then some friends saw that and wanted some practical instruction in how to use a sword so I picked up two of these for that purpose.
The blade length of these training swords is identical to the Classical Arming Sword and the cross hilt is similar enough.
The hilt of the Training Sword is a bit longer than the arming sword and it works well for hand and a half maneuvers. It's a difference but not in an unwieldy way..
On measuring the weight these Training Swords are only one and a half pounds heavy while the Arming Sword comes in at Two and two Thirds pounds (almost the three pounds I was expecting).
The balance on both swords is similar so that makes this Training Sword practically interchangeable with using an Arming (or One Handed) sword.
Brilliant!
I still will use the Arming Sword for work outs and physical therapy because of the added weight, but these are going to come in handy for HEMA training.
